Kelly Canyon History
|
Kelly Canyon Ski Resort is located in the Targhee National Forest near the South
Fork of the Snake River and is one of the most beautiful and historic river valleys
of Eastern Idaho. This region is rich in many recreational activities such as: swimming,
hiking, fishing, hunting, boating, snowmobiling and skiing. Kelly Canyon Ski Resort
was founded by E. Bud Johnson and established in 1957.
In 1957, a few farmers and ranchers went to Sun Valley Ski Resort. They took pictures
and asked a lot of questions. Their journals remarked of the beauty and abundance
Kelly Canyon held for all to see. Wheels began to turn and it was a big invest,
but one that began a lifetime of fun for the area residents.
Original owners were E. Bud Johnson, Frank O. Stone, Lawrence Blakely, C. Warren
Blakely, and Ray M. Wheeler.
